Dr. Smith has established himself as a leader and expert in the care of geriatric pets. Through his training and experience in both Western and Eastern medicine, Dr. Smith is uniquely qualified to treat geriatric pets and enhance their quality of life.

He applies Eastern medical specialties including acupuncture, herbology and food therapy in conjunction with Western medical practices to maximize clinical results. Dr. Smith is co-founder of Pet-Tao Pet Food Company, which is dedicated to helping pets lead longer, healthier lives through proper diet and nutrition.

Geriatric pets encounter a number of debilitating diseases that require special attention. These diseases include arthritis, neurological deficits, obesity, loss of muscle mass, and decreased locomotion disorders. Primary concerns in geriatric patients include maintenance of proper physiologic function, independent living and quality of life.
